Was year 2008 the year of Nyi Nyi Htun Lwin?

As we all know recently in Myanmar, 7 Academy awards were given for the year 2008. Surprisingly, out of 7 awards, 4 awards are connected with director Nyi Nyi Htun Lwin.
Because Khant Sithu (Best leading actor), Khin Moh Moh Aye (Best supporting actress) and Myet Chel Film Production Company (Best film) were awarded for the film directed “A-Myar-Ne`-Ma-Thet-Sine-Thaw-Thu”.

And Nyi Nyi Htun Lwin, himself, was awarded as Best director for that film too. So, in a way, we can say that the films he directed won 4 Academy awards.
(4 awards!! That’s even more than 50% of the total count.) It is too rare a case in Myanmar Academy awarding history as I remember.

So let us all congratulate him. And tell me what your opinion is_ “Was year 2008 the year of Nyi Nyi Htun Lwin?”

Myanmar Hip Hop Movie: Write Own Histroy or Ko Tha Mine Ko Yay

The first time ever hip hop based movie in Myanmar which titled “Write Own Histroy” or “Ko-Tha-Mine-Ko-Yay” movie is directed by Nyo Min Lwin and Thar Nyi. As reported by Kumondra staff, this play is based on hip hop industry and the starring are also actual hip hop,R & B and rap singers such as Kyat Pha, Yone Lay, Jouk Jack, A-thin Cho Swe, Thiri Swe and others.

It is the first time for all of them to play in a movie and also the first time for the director to cast about hip hop music field in Myanmar. The movie will be released as DVD soon.We will have to wait and check it out how far they can go.

Today, the movie emphasis has entirely shifted to Korean movies and some people start to name “Kollywood” after hollywood and bollywood.

Thai action star is planning to Hollywood

If we talk about Thai Action Movie, sure that people will know “Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior, Tom-Yum-Goong (also called Warrior King or The Protector)” as the top. Not only Thai and Asia, but the United States, Europe and Hollywood will talk more about soon after “Ong Bak 2,” was released in the United States last week.

According to HONG KONG (AP) — Tony Jaa (Tatchakorn Yeerum or formerly Panom Yeerum) says his Hollywood debut is a “matter of time” after his latest movie. Thailand’s answer to Jackie Chan and Jet Li has built up a solid box office record in the U.S. His last two movies, “Ong Bak” and “The Protector,” earned $4.6 million and $12 million there.

“Ong Bak 2″ marks the star as director. The Thai-language movie, with English subtitles, opened Friday in 10 theaters and made nearly $26,600 in its first weekend, according to figures from the box office tracking Web site Box Office Mojo.

“I’m happy to know that there are people in the States who like my movies. Hollywood is the capital for the movie industry. It would be interesting to go there. It’s a matter of time,” Jaa said in response to written questions from The Associated Press.

Praising Jaa as “the most well-rounded of all action stars,” Jackie Chan said in 2006 that he pitched for Jaa to take a role in “Rush Hour 3″ but the Thai actor had a scheduling conflict.

Hope to see Tony Jaa among Hollywood action stars soon.

But wait, it’s might not be true. Because they are talking about “Cougar Town” which is the single-camera comedy that dares to tell the truth about dating after divorce. Juggling a teenage son with her thriving career and budding love life isn’t easy.

With play time 1 hr 36 min, “Up” moive, Family and Action genres, was released on May 29, 2009 by Walth Disney Picture. The movie is directed by Pete Docter and Ed Asner, Christopher Plummer and John Ratzenberger are starring as main performers.

The animated action comedy, Family and Action genres movie “Up” is soaring in its first weekend at theaters. According to distributor Walt Disney, the film from Pixar Animation pulled in $68.2 million. Click here to watch movie trailer
